Support in coping with life transitions
We human beings often dislike change and have a hard time handling it. Some
of the challenging transitions in life are:
- The loss of a loved one through separation, divorce, or death
- The first few years after college and living on one's own
- Planning a wedding and getting married
- Buying a house or moving to a new area
- Changes in family size due to the birth of a child or children leaving home
- The physical and status changes which sometimes come with reaching mid-life or older years
- Chronic illness, disability, and terminal illness
- A change in lifestyle for any reason
- Personal growth requiring changes in how we spend our time or who we spend it with
- Adjusting to life after addictions and eating disorders
- During transitions, people need support, stress reduction, strategies
for keeping up self-esteem, and a caring and safe place to talk about
how life is for them right now. They also need to adjust to their new
lives at their own pace, even when others encourage them to "move on."
A Temenos therapist can often help people use these times of often - unwelcome
change as a springboard to create a more satisfying life than before.
Most of all, we have learned that people can get through virtually anything
if they do not have to do it alone.
